Job Overview:
The Knowledge Management Specialist will be an integral part of the Action Programme on Crisis and Post-Crisis Situations (AP/CRISIS) within the ILO. This role is crucial in advancing the Decent Work agenda in environments affected by crises. The ILO's engagement in these contexts is rooted in its commitment to social justice as a means to achieve sustainable peace. The position involves integrating decent work principles into responses across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDPN), focusing on employment creation, enterprise recovery, and resilience-building. The Knowledge Management Specialist will be responsible for consolidating and enhancing the ILO’s institutional knowledge on decent work in fragile settings, developing innovative tools, and fostering collaboration across teams and partners. This role will ensure that lessons learned, best practices, and actionable insights are effectively shared to support evidence-based decision-making and capacity-building efforts within the HDPN.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge Hub Development and Support: Design, implement, and manage the Knowledge Sharing Hub in partnership with ITCILO, ensuring it consolidates ILO resources relevant to decent work in crisis settings. Leverage advanced tools, including AI-based systems for tagging and predictive analytics, to enhance usability. Support connections between the ILO Knowledge Hub and other platforms for cross-agency collaboration. Map and develop integrated tools supporting decent work in crisis settings. Review and update the AP/CRISIS intranet page. Collect and analyze lessons learned from crisis interventions. Foster partnerships with UN agencies and stakeholders to align knowledge-sharing initiatives. Participate in UN knowledge-sharing forums.
  • Communication and Content Development: Develop communication strategies to promote the Knowledge Hub, targeting internal and external audiences. Create multimedia content to enhance visibility. Update ILO AP/CRISIS internet and intranet pages.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop metrics to assess the platform’s effectiveness in knowledge sharing. Gather user feedback to refine features.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in knowledge management, information systems, social sciences, communications, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree in one of these fields with an additional two years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Proven experience in knowledge management, digital platform development, and multimedia content creation is essential. Familiarity with UN systems and the HDPN framework is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in relevant fields such as knowledge management, information systems, social sciences, communications, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in these fields along with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted.

Experience:
At least two years of relevant professional experience in knowledge management, digital platform development, or related fields is required. Candidates should have proven experience with AI tools for knowledge sharing, data visualization, and content organization. Demonstrated experience in multimedia content creation, including social media management and graphic design, is also necessary. Familiarity with UN systems and working within the HDPN framework is considered an asset.

Languages:
Excellent command of English is mandatory. Proficiency in French or another UN language is advantageous and will be considered a plus.

Additional Notes:
This position is a short-term contract lasting for 9 months. The appointment is subject to ILO Staff Regulations and other relevant internal rules. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination to confirm their fitness for the role. The ILO has a zero-tolerance policy for acts of sexual exploitation and abuse and conducts background verification of candidates to ensure a safe working environment.
