Job Overview: The position of Consultant for Project Management involves a range of responsibilities aimed at maintaining and improving project management processes within UNRWA. The consultant will be responsible for managing project databases, ensuring timely submission of project assessments, preparing analyses for quarterly project reviews, and coordinating with various departments to optimize project database systems. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects. The consultant will also support the Strategic Project Management Office (SPMO) and participate in meetings to provide administrative support as needed. This position is crucial for ensuring that project proposals are submitted and endorsed by relevant stakeholders, and that accurate data is maintained across various systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Maintaining project databases and updating the work breakdown structure (WBS) for new projects.
Ensuring timely submission of project assessments in the Project Assessment System (PAS) and conducting reviews with Project Officers.
Preparing analyses and statistics for quarterly project reviews and developing technical project portfolio reports.
Coordinating the submission and endorsement of project proposals by stakeholders and consolidating lists for quarterly Project Assessment Committee meetings.
Liaising with the Digital Impact Technology and Information Department to improve project database systems.
Verifying the accuracy of core data in databases through coordination with various departments.
Resolving project-related issues in collaboration with Finance and ERCD Project Officers.
Participating in meetings and providing administrative support to the SPMO as needed.
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in political science, public policy, social science, international studies, public/business administration, economics, information technology, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted.
At least four years of professional experience in project/programme management, coordination, or portfolio management, with an advanced degree. Six years of relevant experience may be accepted with a first-level degree.
Advanced knowledge of database management software, particularly Excel, is required. Familiarity with Power BI or other visualization tools is advantageous.
Experience in a humanitarian context within the UN or comparable international organizations is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as political science, public policy, social science, international studies, public/business administration, economics, or information technology. A first-level university degree may be accepted in combination with additional qualifying experience, totaling six years.
Experience: The position requires at least four years of professional experience in project/programme management, coordination, or portfolio management, particularly in a humanitarian context. Candidates with a first-level university degree must have a total of six years of relevant experience. Experience within the UN or similar international organizations is highly desirable.
Languages: Candidates must have a very good command of written and spoken English and an excellent command of written and spoken Arabic. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this consultancy is 11 months, with a monthly salary of 1,100 JD.
