Job Overview: The Migration Health Officer will work under the supervision of the Head of Sub Office in Yola, directly reporting to the Migration Health Officer and Migration Health Assistant (Data & Reporting). The role involves supporting health activities, service delivery, and coordination of the BHA project. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating health outreach programs, training logistics, and managing patient data. The officer will provide leadership in establishing high standards of care and ensuring quality service delivery in line with international best practices. This position requires a proactive approach to health service coordination, particularly in addressing the needs of survivors of gender-based violence (SGBV) and ensuring their timely access to appropriate services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Migration Health Officer will undertake various tasks, including coordinating all field activities related to the project in the designated health facility, ensuring timely identification and provision of services to SGBV survivors, and facilitating community involvement in psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support activities. The officer will also organize training sessions for positive parenting skills, document and report on activities, and adhere to child protection standards. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with child protection committees, preparing case action plans, and maintaining compliance with hospital protocols. The officer will also participate in policy design and formulation, ensuring that humanitarian relief standards are upheld.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in nursing, midwifery, or public health, along with a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience. A valid nursing license to practice in Nigeria is mandatory. Previous experience in community-based activities, data reporting, and facilitation is essential. The candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in diverse cultural settings, and experience in building relationships with various stakeholders. Familiarity with the humanitarian sector, particularly within the UN or international organizations, is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in nursing, midwifery, or public health. Candidates should have a valid nursing license to practice in Nigeria, ensuring they meet the legal requirements for healthcare professionals in the country.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience, particularly in community health settings. Candidates should have experience in data reporting and community mobilization, as well as a proven track record of working in cross-cultural environments, especially in northeast Nigeria. Experience with rural communities and various ethnic groups is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of the local language is desired to facilitate effective communication with the community and stakeholders.
