Job Overview:
The Young Associate position within the Regional and Rural Policy Unit of the OECD is designed for individuals who are eager to engage in the analysis of regional and rural discontent, with a specific focus on enhancing competitiveness through sustainable Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. The role requires the Young Associate to identify successful partnerships between private firms and communities that can bolster local economies and leverage opportunities arising from climate change. Working under the guidance of a Senior Policy Analyst, the Young Associate will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to driving economic revitalization, competitiveness, and overall well-being in regions and rural areas through industrialization and innovation. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful policy development and analysis that can have a significant impact on local communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Young Associate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including conducting analysis and desk research to identify best practices in ESG and partnerships that enhance competitiveness and sustainability in regions and rural areas. They will contribute to the development and analysis of questionnaires aimed at gathering insights on private-community partnerships and their local economic impacts. Additionally, the Young Associate will carry out literature reviews and draft reports on findings related to sources of discontent, industrialization opportunities, and climate change in these areas. The role also involves drafting briefs, policy notes, papers, and reports as required, assisting with working and expert groups by facilitating discussions to share knowledge and co-develop solutions that lead to consensus. Furthermore, the Young Associate will liaise with industry and policy experts to ensure alignment with innovative practices and climate-related opportunities for rural development.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Young Associate position should possess an undergraduate degree in economics, economic geography, public policy, environmental economics, political science, statistics, management, international relations, or a related discipline. Candidates must have a graduation date between 1 January 2024 and 1 September 2025, and applications from those who already hold or are enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree will not be considered. Additionally, coursework in at least two of the following areas is required: economics, statistics, economic geography, policy, political science, international relations, and environmental economics.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as economics, economic geography, public policy, environmental economics, political science, statistics, management, or international relations. The degree must be obtained between 1 January 2024 and 1 September 2025, and candidates must have completed coursework in at least two specified areas, ensuring a solid foundation for the analytical and research tasks required in this role.

Experience:
The position is aimed at recent graduates or those nearing graduation, thus requiring no prior professional experience. However, any relevant internships or academic projects that demonstrate research and analytical skills will be advantageous. The focus is on candidates who are entering the workforce and are eager to learn and contribute to the OECD's mission.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages, English or French, is mandatory, along with a willingness to learn the other language. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication within the organization and with member countries.
