Job Overview:
The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme at the ILO is designed to provide young professionals with hands-on experience in the organization's activities, particularly in the Human Resources Development Department (HRD). The JPO will play a crucial role in supporting the organizational culture and diversity agenda, which is aligned with the Director-General's vision for a diverse and inclusive workforce. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative HR policies and practices while gaining valuable professional experience in the field of human resources, particularly in diversity and organizational culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Development Director, the JPO will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of integrated Diversity, Inclusion, and Organizational Culture change programs through research, trend analysis, communications, and data reporting.
  • Reviewing and contributing to the development of management policies related to Organizational Culture and Diversity.
  • Conducting research to identify good practices on culture change and diversity to inform strategies and approaches within the ILO context.
  • Assisting with the execution and ongoing maintenance of diversity and organizational culture change projects, including training and communications initiatives.
  • Providing support in the creation and management of project plans related to diversity and organizational culture change, ensuring that desired outcomes are met.
  • Taking on special projects and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a strong passion for social justice and a commitment to promoting decent work. The ILO seeks an innovative thinker and doer who is eager to contribute to the organization's mission. Candidates should have a solid understanding of human resources policies and practices, as well as the ability to apply them effectively in an organizational setting. Good analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced level university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in human resources, public administration, management studies, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in one of the aforementioned fields, combined with an additional two years of relevant work experience, will be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in human resources, diversity, inclusion, and organizational culture change, or another related field. Desirable experience includes work in an international environment and project management.

Languages:
Candidates must have an excellent command of English and at least limited knowledge of a second ILO working language, which could be French or Spanish. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.

This position is a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) contract with a duration of 12 months, renewable for up to two to three years. The position is exclusively open to U.S. citizens who are 32 years of age or younger as of December 31, 202
