Job Overview:
The Regional Coordinator position is crucial for implementing the zonal strategy in the operational area of Ituri, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role involves active participation in the development of new projects for the operational area in 2024/2025, consolidating emergency response capacities, and maintaining high levels of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and access in the region. The coordinator will work closely with the coordination teams, particularly in the Program and Grants departments, to ensure that the organization's humanitarian objectives are met. The position requires a proactive approach to managing challenges related to security and access in a volatile context, as well as the ability to launch new projects and recruit teams effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
- Implement the annual plan and zonal strategy in the Ituri operational area.
- Collaborate with coordination teams to develop new projects for the upcoming years.
- Strengthen emergency response capacities in the region.
- Foster collaboration with national partners to enhance project effectiveness.
- Ensure a high level of security and access in the operational area.
- Participate in the deployment of a new compliance department in the operational zone.
- Address security challenges and develop strategic and operational plans for the area.
- Oversee the recruitment of new team members and the launch of new projects within the first few months of the role.
- Conduct multisectoral assessments to secure additional funding and support for vulnerable populations.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A Master's degree in international relations, project management, logistics, administration, finance, human resources, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with prior experience in a similar role.
- Strong analytical and projection skills.
- Experience in managing security in volatile contexts.
- Proven project management skills, ideally in food security and livelihoods (SAME) and/or water, hygiene, and sanitation (EHA).
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, coordination, and networking skills.
- Willingness to travel to field locations as required.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, project management, logistics, administration, finance, or human resources. This advanced education is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and effectively managing projects in challenging environments.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector. This experience should include a prior role in a similar capacity, demonstrating the ability to manage projects and respond to emergencies effectively. Candidates should also have experience in security management and a solid understanding of the operational challenges faced in volatile contexts.
Languages:
Fluency in French, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.

The position is a short-term contract with a duration of one year, starting on August 1, 202
- The salary is competitive, starting at EUR 3080 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 800 is provided. SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. During the mission, a work and leave system is implemented, allowing for breaks every three months, with additional rest days accrued for each month worked. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including vaccinations and malaria treatment. Living conditions in Bunia include individual rooms with private or shared bathrooms, communal spaces, and access to amenities such as electricity, hot water, and a diverse food supply. Security measures are in place due to the volatile context of the Ituri province, and the organization emphasizes the importance of safety for its staff.
