Job Overview:
The MHPSS Technical Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the MHPSS department by providing technical oversight and ensuring the effective implementation of MHPSS programs. This position involves setting a strategic vision for MHPSS initiatives, fostering innovation, and mentoring MHPSS staff. The manager will also be responsible for developing quality improvement plans and ensuring that MHPSS interventions align with international standards, donor requirements, and community needs. The role requires collaboration with the management team in proposal writing and the development of technical documents to harmonize processes and tools across various sectors, including health, protection, education, and livelihoods.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MHPSS Technical Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Providing technical support to ensure the integration of MHPSS into other sectors.
  • Offering guidance on MHPSS components during proposal development and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design.
  • Conducting regular field visits to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of MHPSS services.
  • Assessing compliance with IMC technical standards and producing recommendations for improvement.
  • Contributing to the definition and updating of intervention strategies.
  • Developing internal technical standards and reference documents for program implementation.
  • Overseeing the collection, analysis, and reporting of MHPSS data.
  • Collaborating with the M&E team to develop appropriate indicators for MHPSS programs.
  • Preparing timely reports for internal use and stakeholders. 1
  • Advocating for MHPSS-related activities and needs with local and national stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field with a focus on mental health. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in providing MHPSS services and community-based approaches is required. Candidates should have experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings and a strong understanding of global MHPSS standards and best practices. Demonstrated experience in capacity building, supervision, and mentoring is essential, along with familiarity with key donors and their MHPSS requirements. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are necessary, as well as strong project management skills and emotional maturity.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field that emphasizes mental health. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of mental health and psychosocial support in various contexts, particularly in humanitarian settings.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the provision of MHPSS services at different levels, with a focus on community-based approaches. Candidates should have experience in conflict or post-conflict settings, demonstrating their ability to navigate the challenges associated with such environments. Clinical supervision experience is also required, along with a proven track record in program design, proposal writing, and donor reporting.

Languages:
