Job Overview:
The Health Logistics Technical Associate will play a crucial role within the WHO Health Emergencies Preparedness and Response (EPR) framework. This position requires collaboration with the technical Health logistics/WASH officer to ensure that health logistics and WASH projects are effective, efficient, and aligned with the Global Programme of Work (GPW14) and both local and international standards. The incumbent will provide technical assistance to member states, focusing on establishing sustainable health logistics and WASH systems that ensure water quality, hygiene, and waste management in healthcare facilities. This role is essential for enhancing routine healthcare delivery and emergency preparedness, ultimately contributing to improved public health outcomes and resilience to future crises.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting needs assessments during graded emergencies to identify gaps in current WASH services; performing on-site water quality testing throughout the water supply chain and documenting all relevant information; providing training on water quality and WASH adherence at healthcare facilities; contributing to project proposals by providing technical specifications, budgets, and timelines; participating in regular meetings and workshops to ensure alignment and collaboration between Health logistics/WASH; engaging in evaluation exercises to assess the effectiveness of Health Logistics/WASH interventions; and reporting progress, challenges, and lessons learned to the Operations Officer and WASH/Health logistics officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong familiarity with construction materials and techniques relevant to WASH projects, demonstrated experience in WASH-related architecture projects, and knowledge of international guidelines (e.g., WHO, UNICEF) and local regulations. Proven experience in emergency response, community engagement, and capacity building is essential, along with expertise in using MS Office applications.

Educational Background:
The essential educational requirement is the completion of secondary education. However, a formal education in Health Logistics/WASH from a recognized institution is desirable. A first degree in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a related field is also preferred.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in technical areas of Health Logistics/WASH. Desirable experience includes project implementation and architectural design. Experience within UN or other international or multinational organizations, such as the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Save the Children, or Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), will be considered an advantage.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement is proficiency in English, with an expert level of reading, writing, and speaking. French is also required, with a working level of proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking. The language requirements for English and French are interchangeable, allowing for flexibility in language skills among candidates.

This position may involve working in challenging environments and requires a commitment to the mission of WHO. The role is full-time, and the incumbent will be expected to engage in both routine and emergency response activities.
