Job Overview: The Partnerships Development Officer is responsible for supporting the development of partnerships that align with UNOPS' mission and objectives in Sri Lanka. This role involves researching potential partnership opportunities, analyzing socio-economic and political trends, and drafting project proposals. The officer will actively engage with current and potential partners, ensuring that UNOPS maintains strong relationships and effectively communicates its goals. The position requires collaboration with various teams, including project managers and technical specialists, to ensure coherent interactions with partners. The officer will also be involved in donor reporting and knowledge management, contributing to the overall effectiveness of UNOPS in delivering sustainable results.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to: researching and identifying potential partnership opportunities; keeping updated on socio-economic and political trends in Sri Lanka; supporting donor mapping exercises; drafting project documents and concept notes; conducting outreach to current and potential partners; coordinating and participating in meetings with donors and partners; preparing high-quality meeting minutes and action-oriented summaries; collaborating with relevant personnel to ensure aligned interactions; compiling and preparing partnership updates; conducting field visits for needs assessments; preparing background notes and briefings for senior management; developing visibility materials in coordination with the Communications Officer; and undertaking missions to field offices as needed. Additionally, the officer will support the Reporting Specialist in drafting donor reports and contribute to knowledge management by implementing standards and sharing best practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a First University Degree (Bachelor’s) with at least 2 years of relevant experience in fields such as international affairs, business administration, social sciences, economics, or development studies. Proficiency in computer software and platforms relevant to the position is required, along with knowledge of UN policies and operations. Experience working with international organizations or development banks is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the G-Suite platform.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma or a First University Degree (Bachelor’s) in a relevant field. The preferred disciplines include international affairs, business administration, social sciences, economics, environmental studies, or development studies. A higher level of education may be considered an asset, particularly if accompanied by relevant experience in the field of international development assistance.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in partnerships, program, project management, or reporting. Experience in the local context of Sri Lanka or the surrounding region is essential. Candidates should demonstrate high proficiency with computers and relevant software, as well as a solid understanding of UN operations and policies. Previous experience working with UN agencies, international organizations, or development banks is highly valued.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNOPS. Additionally, a working knowledge of a local language is highly desirable, as it can facilitate better engagement with local partners and stakeholders.

The duration of the contract is open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
