Job Overview: The position of Investigation and Inspection Unit Assistant is a temporary role within the ILO's Investigation and Inspection Unit, part of the Office of Internal Audit and Oversight (IAO). The primary function of this role is to support the internal audit and investigation processes by monitoring and analyzing data, assisting investigators, and drafting reports. The assistant will work closely with the Chief of the Investigation and Inspection Unit and will be involved in various stages of investigations, from preparation to post-investigation reporting. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the ILO's governance and risk management systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor the IAO Hotline, triage allegations, and provide standard responses or escalate as necessary.
Prepare case openings upon receipt of allegations, suggesting actions for consideration.
Analyze data and documents to identify anomalies during the pre-investigation phase.
Gather evidence and collect information during investigations, including taking statements and recording interviews.
Draft summaries, minutes, and reports during the post-investigation phase.
Manage an allocated caseload under supervision, ensuring case records are updated.
Prepare presentations and assist in statistical preparation as required.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in law or a closely related field. Additionally, they should have at least three years of relevant professional experience in criminal and/or administrative investigations. Knowledge of the ILO's policies and procedures, as well as the ability to analyze and summarize findings, is essential. Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills are also required, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a confidential and multicultural environment.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in law or a closely related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding legal principles and investigative processes relevant to the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in criminal and/or administrative investigations. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to handle complex investigations, analyze data, and produce clear and concise reports.
Languages: Candidates must have an excellent command of one of the ILO's working languages (English, French, or Spanish). A working knowledge of another language would be advantageous, as it would enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse environment of the ILO.
