Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the field base in Kharkiv, Ukraine. This role involves direct supervision by the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and close coordination with the Deputy Country Director for Programs. The Field Coordinator is tasked with developing and implementing the global strategy for the area of intervention, representing the organization in local forums and coordination groups, and managing key personnel including the Logistics, Human Resources, and Finance managers. The position requires a proactive approach to address the challenges posed by a volatile security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situation and the need for strategic shifts towards localized interventions. The Field Coordinator will also oversee the performance of a relatively young team and ensure the successful completion of ongoing projects while preparing for new initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator's duties include managing the field base's overall operations, ensuring compliance with budgetary and project targets, and leading the team in executing humanitarian interventions. Specific responsibilities involve: 1) Overseeing the implementation of the BHA 1 project, ensuring it meets budget, targets, and timelines; 2) Initiating the BHA 2 project and the CDCS project; 3) Completing winterization activities under BHA1 and ECHO MR; 4) Restructuring the Kharkiv field base as necessary to enhance performance; 5) Representing SI in local coordination meetings and forums; 6) Managing security protocols and ensuring the safety of staff; 7) Providing guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and effective working environment; 8) Monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and making adjustments as needed; 9) Engaging with local stakeholders and communities to ensure the relevance and impact of interventions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Humanitarian Management, Project Management, or Security Management. Additionally, they should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years in similar positions. Technical skills required include HR management, security management, and strategy management. Candidates should demonstrate rigor, flexibility, and the ability to handle pressure effectively.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Humanitarian Management, Project Management, or Security Management is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and the strategic management of projects in challenging environments.

Experience:
The position requires 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a preference for candidates who have held similar roles for 0-2 years. This experience should include managing teams, overseeing projects, and navigating the challenges of humanitarian work in volatile contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

  • The position is full-time, and the compensation package includes a starting salary of EUR 3080 gross per month, which consists of a base salary of EUR 2800 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of EUR 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses for expatriates. The organization implements a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates receive a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Kharkiv, despite the security situation, are described as dynamic, with access to various amenities and social activities.
