Job Overview:
The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Education Department at UNRWA, working closely with subject matter experts in the curriculum unit. Reporting directly to the Communication Advisor of the Education Department, the intern will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the development and dissemination of educational materials. This position is designed to provide the intern with hands-on experience in educational design and communication within a humanitarian context. The intern will assist in creating self-learning materials, updating educational content, and maintaining design resources. Additionally, the intern will participate in strategic communication efforts, helping to prepare visually engaging reports and documentation that effectively communicate key messages and program information. By the end of the internship, the candidate will have gained valuable insights into UNRWA's operations, enhanced graphic design skills, and a deeper understanding of humanitarian assistance in conflict settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in the creation of self-learning materials by collaborating with curriculum advisors on Arabic typing and the design and formatting of self-learning cards.
  • Designing and updating educational department content, including brochures, posters, leaflets, and factsheets, to effectively communicate key messages and program information.
  • Organizing and maintaining a repository of design resources and educational materials for ongoing projects.
  • Supporting curriculum development activities by preparing documentation, updating files, and assisting in team meetings.
  • Assisting the Curriculum team with the translation of Arabic-English texts as needed.
  • Participating in strategic communication brainstorming sessions, developing meeting minutes, and attending special events such as workshops and training sessions.
  • Helping to prepare visually engaging reports that present complex information in a clear and accessible format. Through these responsibilities, the intern will develop skills in multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and working effectively in a multicultural environment.

Required Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for this internship include:
  • Enrollment in an accredited first-level higher education program (Bachelor's or equivalent) or an accredited graduate school program (Master's or higher or equivalent). Alternatively, candidates who have graduated with a university degree must be able to commence the internship immediately.
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) must be from an accredited educational institution in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • While prior professional work experience is not required, experience in educational design or developing learning materials will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly the ability to type quickly in Arabic and handle images and formatting, are essential.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
