Job Overview:
The MEAL Manager position is crucial for supporting the Wash coordinators and the MEAL team at the base level in Kabul. The role involves overseeing the nationalization plan for the MEAL Manager position and addressing specific challenges such as high turnover rates within the Kabul team and the need for strong training capacities for national colleagues. The MEAL Manager is expected to be proactive, hands-on, and willing to visit various bases to ensure effective implementation of programs. In the first few months, the focus will be on improving methodologies based on lessons learned, capacity building for teams in Nimroz and Farah provinces, and clarifying roles and responsibilities between the program and MEAL teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MEAL Manager will be responsible for supporting the Wash coordinators and the MEAL team, ensuring effective data collection and management, and adapting methodologies based on previous experiences. The role includes training national staff, improving the capacity of teams in different provinces, and ensuring that the MEAL processes align with the organization's objectives. The MEAL Manager will also be involved in designing and writing proposals, managing data protection, and following up on indicators as part of the monitoring and evaluation plan. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and community resilience.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a License or Master’s degree in a humanitarian field or related topics. They should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a first experience in a similar position. Technical skills required include mastery of data collection tools (such as Kobo and Excel), data analysis, data management, and knowledge of monitoring and evaluation plans. Familiarity with GIS and SI rules and processes is considered an asset, as well as knowledge of major donors such as BHA, ECHO, AHF, and CDCS.

Educational Background:
A License or Master’s degree in a relevant humanitarian field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and practices.

Experience:
The position requires 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least one prior experience in a similar role. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and for effectively managing the MEAL processes within the organization.

Languages:
English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of Dari and Pashto is required, while proficiency in French is considered an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is essential for collaboration with local teams and stakeholders.

  • The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. A monthly Per Diem of USD 600 is also provided. Accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment are covered by SI. The organization implements a system of breaks during the assignment, allowing for time off every two months, along with additional rest days. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions include guest house accommodations with individual bathrooms, common kitchen and dining areas, and access to internet and social life opportunities. However, security conditions limit movement in Kabul and other operational areas.
