Job Overview:
The MEAL Manager position is crucial for supporting the Wash coordinators and the MEAL team at the base level in Kabul. This role involves overseeing the nationalization plan for the MEAL Manager position and addressing specific challenges such as high turnover rates within the Kabul and Nimroz teams. The MEAL Manager is expected to be proactive, hands-on, and capable of visiting various bases to ensure effective training and capacity building of national colleagues. The initial months will focus on improving methodologies based on lessons learned and clarifying roles and responsibilities between the program and MEAL teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MEAL Manager will be responsible for supporting the Wash coordinators and the MEAL team, implementing and adapting methodologies for data collection and analysis, and ensuring effective training for national staff. The role includes developing and managing the MEAL plan, overseeing indicator follow-up, and ensuring compliance with data protection standards. The MEAL Manager will also be involved in proposal design and writing, as well as capacity building for teams in Nimroz and Farah provinces. Regular visits to bases to assess needs and provide training will be essential, along with adapting strategies based on field observations and feedback.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a License or Master’s degree in a humanitarian field or related topics. A strong background in data collection and analysis, including proficiency in tools such as Kobo and Excel, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have extensive knowledge of monitoring and evaluation plans, indicator follow-up, and proposal writing. Familiarity with GIS and knowledge of SI rules and processes, as well as main donors like BHA, ECHO, AHF, and CDCS, will be advantageous.

Educational Background:
A License or Master’s degree in a relevant humanitarian field is required for this position. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in humanitarian principles and practices, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to effectively manage MEAL activities.

Experience:
Candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least one prior experience in a similar position. This experience should demonstrate the ability to manage MEAL functions effectively and to train and support national staff in a challenging environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Dari and Pashto is also required, while proficiency in French will be considered an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is crucial for collaboration with local teams and stakeholders.

  • The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 600 is provided. Accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment are covered by SI. The organization offers a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions include guest house accommodations with individual bathrooms, common kitchen and dining areas, and access to internet and social life opportunities. Security measures are in place due to the volatile context, limiting movement in Kabul and other operational areas.
