Job Overview:
The MEAL Manager position is crucial for supporting the Wash coordinators and the MEAL team at the base level in Kabul. The role involves overseeing the nationalization plan for the MEAL Manager position, which includes training and capacity building for national colleagues. The MEAL Manager will need to be proactive, visiting various bases and adapting methodologies based on lessons learned from previous experiences, particularly in Bamyan. The position is expected to address challenges such as turnover within the Kabul team and the need for strong training capacities in Nimroz and Farah provinces. The first few months will focus on improving methodologies and clarifying roles and responsibilities between the program and MEAL teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MEAL Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the Wash coordinators in their activities, leading the MEAL team in Kabul, implementing and adapting monitoring and evaluation methodologies, conducting training sessions for national staff, ensuring data collection and analysis are conducted effectively, and maintaining compliance with SI's rules and processes. The role also involves developing and managing the MEAL plan, ensuring that indicators are followed up appropriately, and designing proposals for funding. The MEAL Manager will need to engage with various stakeholders, including donors, to ensure that the programs are aligned with their requirements and expectations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a License or Master's degree in a humanitarian field or related topics. Additionally, they should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least one prior experience in a similar position. Technical skills required include mastery of data collection tools (such as Kobo and Excel), data analysis, data management, and data protection. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation plans, indicator follow-up, and proposal design and writing is essential. Transversal skills such as GIS knowledge and understanding of SI's rules and processes will be considered an asset, as well as knowledge of major donors like BHA, ECHO, AHF, and CDCS.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a License or Master's degree in a relevant humanitarian field or related topics. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the specific challenges faced in the field.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector. This experience should include a first role in a similar position, demonstrating the ability to manage MEAL functions effectively and to train and support national staff in their roles.

Languages:
English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of Dari and Pashto is required, while proficiency in French will be considered an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is crucial for interacting with local staff and communities.

  • The salary for this position starts from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 600 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. During the assignment, a system of breaks is implemented, allowing for 7 working days off every two months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions include guest house accommodations with individual bathrooms, common kitchen and dining areas, and access to internet and social life opportunities.
