Established to support humanitarian workers, influencers, fundraisers, and donors, ACAPS operates globally, conducting analysis on crises in various countries including Afghanistan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Yemen. The organization is expanding its decentralized global team and has a growing donor portfolio with key institutional donors such as BHA, FCDO, SDC, GFFO, GAC, and NMFA. Job Overview: The Senior Analyst is responsible for supervising the planning, production, and quality of analytical reports produced by the project analysts. This role involves contributing to the production of analysis, developing and improving ACAPS methodologies, and providing on-the-job training for analysts. The Senior Analyst also supports networking, partnerships, and fundraising efforts, ensuring that the analytical outputs meet high methodological standards and effectively inform humanitarian responses. The position is crucial in managing the Sudan Analysis Hub, which was established to provide integrated independent analysis to support the humanitarian response in Sudan amidst ongoing crises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure effective processes for planning, production, and timely delivery of analytical reports, coordinating resources including analysts and external experts.
Provide training and feedback to analysts on design, content, structure, and quality of analysis.
Review assessments and reports to understand the information landscape and current gaps.
Maintain project information management systems and ensure efficient processing of information needs.
Compile, synthesize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative information to support humanitarian responses.
Design and produce analytical reports while ensuring high methodological standards.
Develop and maintain a network of key interlocutors for information sharing.
Represent ACAPS at cluster and working group meetings to promote ACAPS products.
Provide technical analytical support to humanitarian actors and assist in fundraising efforts for project continuation. 1
Be available to review reports outside of regular working hours as needed.
At least 5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, with a minimum of 2 years in research, analysis, information management, or advocacy.
Demonstrated analytical skills and written clarity, with the ability to analyze complex concepts and synthesize information.
Experience in designing and conducting analysis in humanitarian contexts.
Training and understanding of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis methods.
Proven experience working with civil society and local partners.
Fluent written and oral communication skills in English; Arabic is an asset.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Educational Background: A relevant Master’s degree is required, preferably in fields related to humanitarian action, social sciences, international relations, public health, or epidemiology. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian crises and conducting effective analysis.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in research, analysis, information management, or advocacy. This level of experience is crucial for effectively managing the analytical processes and ensuring high-quality outputs.
Languages: Fluent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing the ability to communicate effectively in the region and with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is a fixed-term national role, requiring candidates to have the right to live and work in the specified duty stations, which include Bangladesh, Kenya, Jordan, Senegal, and Ukraine. The role is full-time, with a starting date as soon as possible. There is no budget responsibility associated with this position, and travel will be agreed upon with the supervisor.
