Job Overview: The Field Monitoring Officer (Electrical) will work under the supervision of the Team Lead (Electrical) and the Lead Engineer (Electrical). This role involves analyzing claims related to contractor work, conducting measurements and verifications of completed works, and ensuring compliance with specifications and quality requirements. The officer will engage in field missions, utilize satellite imagery for verification, and produce detailed reports on progress, issues, and risks. The position requires collaboration with junior colleagues and support for training initiatives, emphasizing the importance of flexibility to adapt to the team's needs and local conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Monitoring Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
Analyze claims related to contractor work with the support of supervisors.
Conduct measurements and verifications of completed works through documentation review, field missions, and alternative verification methods.
Evaluate works against specifications and quality requirements, recommending further tests if necessary.
Prepare tools for measurement and verification activities.
Produce internal and external reports on measurement and verification activities, including progress reports and risk assessments.
Share technical knowledge with junior colleagues and support the team lead in planning and risk evaluation.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and environment (HSSE) standards.
Assist in delivering training on technical topics and guide the collection of feedback and best practices.
Perform any other assignments as directed by the Lead Engineer to achieve project deliverables.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a First Level University Degree (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline combined with 4 years of relevant experience may be accepted. Candidates should have experience in the design and construction of electrical components, particularly in large-scale power generation and distribution projects, and should be able to work independently in a results-driven environment. Experience in contractor supervision, interim payment certificates, claims management, and the use of satellite images is preferred. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is an asset, along with previous experience in an international development context.
