Job Overview:
The Associate Economic Affairs Officer will play a crucial role in the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Programme, focusing on responsible investment for sustainable development. The officer will be responsible for conducting economic and sector analysis, collecting and interpreting socio-economic data, and maintaining databases related to sustainable finance. This position requires the preparation of analytical studies, briefing notes, and contributions to awareness-raising campaigns. The officer will also assist in organizing expert group meetings and seminars, contributing to the technical cooperation projects aimed at promoting sustainable investment practices. The role demands a strong understanding of economic principles, data management, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to non-specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Economic Affairs Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Conducting economic and sector analysis by collecting and interpreting statistics and qualitative socio-economic information related to responsible investment.
  • Maintaining databases and organizing non-quantitative information on sustainable development.
  • Preparing inputs for briefing notes, speeches, and other materials on investment issues.
  • Drafting components of analytical studies on responsible investment policies.
  • Contributing to social media campaigns to raise awareness about sustainable investment.
  • Assisting in the organization of informal expert group meetings and seminars.
  • Compiling and analyzing data for technical cooperation project proposals.
  • Preparing documentation for technical cooperation programs and online training projects.
  • Supporting the monitoring and assessment of technical cooperation initiatives. 1
  • Performing various administrative tasks necessary for the delivery of the unit's work program. 1
  • Engaging in training activities, both internally and externally, to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in economic research and analysis, with a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in policy formulation and application of economic principles in development programs. Experience in investment issues and sustainable finance is desirable, as is experience in organizing training courses and producing content for social media. Familiarity with managing sustainability databases related to stock exchanges is also beneficial. The candidate should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in economics, finance, public policy, sustainable development, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of economic analysis and sustainable investment practices.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in economic research and analysis, with a focus on policy formulation and the application of economic principles in development programs. Additionally, candidates should have experience in organizing training courses and producing content suitable for social media platforms. Languages:

Additional Notes:
This position is immediately available for an initial period of six months and is funded through a project. Any extensions will depend on the availability of funding, satisfactory performance, and the continuing need for the service. If the selected candidate is already a staff member of the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be treated as a temporary assignment. It is important to note that this temporary assignment does not affect the future incumbency of the post.
