Job Overview:
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial management and reporting. This role includes supporting field finance teams in developing and monitoring budgets, managing cash flow, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, and providing strategic financial advice to management. The Finance Coordinator is also tasked with capacity building for finance staff and conducting training for non-finance staff. The position requires maintaining robust financial controls and liaising with external stakeholders, including donors and auditors, to ensure transparency and accountability in financial matters. The role is critical due to the complexity of operations across multiple countries and the need for effective coordination among finance teams in various field offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and internal policies.
  • Support field finance teams in developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Manage cash flow and ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to management.
  • Conduct training sessions for finance and non-finance staff to enhance financial literacy.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and ensure transparency in financial operations.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including donors and auditors, to uphold accountability.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven financial management skills, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Strong accounting skills, including proficiency in financial software.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective coordination and training.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Autonomous and self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Educational Background:
A degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial principles and practices, as well as relevant coursework or certifications in financial management.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a minimum of 5 years in similar financial positions. Experience in managing financial operations in complex environments, particularly in humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an added value, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and teams.

Additional Notes:
The position is a permanent contract based in Amman, with travel required to North-East Syria (NES) and Iraq. The starting salary is EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 785 is provided. Accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment are covered by SI. The organization implements a break system, allowing for time off every three months, along with additional rest days for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Amman are described as comfortable and safe, with access to essential services.
