Job Overview:
The Operations Lead & Deputy Team Leader plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of the Renew Pacific program, which is a significant initiative funded by the Australian Government with a budget of AU$75M over a span of 4.5 years. This position is responsible for leading the operational management and compliance of the program, ensuring seamless integration between Palladium's corporate project management functions and the project itself. The role requires strong technical and people leadership to guide the Operations Team, which operates both in Australia and the Pacific region. The Operations Lead will oversee the day-to-day management of various operational aspects including budget management, procurement, recruitment, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and risk management. Additionally, this role will act as the Team Leader in their absence, holding overall responsibility for the program's success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Lead & Deputy Team Leader will be tasked with a comprehensive set of responsibilities including: planning and managing project start-up and closeout; overseeing the development and implementation of the REnew Grants Management Framework; managing operational functions such as budget and finance, asset management, transport, security, and occupational health and safety; drafting and maintaining the project operations manual; leading the development of standard operating procedures; supporting corporate program management; managing third-party vendors; overseeing project payment runs; monitoring expenditure against budgets; developing a project-wide document management system; building relationships with stakeholders; leading the Operations team; developing a risk register; and anticipating future operational needs.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience at a Project Management or Operational Management level is required, particularly with experience in DFAT or other development agencies. Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, sound problem-solving abilities, and strong management skills to lead effective teams. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, possess strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate financial and commercial acumen.
Educational Background:
The position requires tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage the complexities of the role.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience in Project Management or Operational Management. This experience should include working with DFAT or similar development agencies, managing program financials, technical contract management, and stakeholder relationships. The candidate should also have a proven track record of achieving tight deadlines and managing risks and compliance effectively.
Languages:
