Job Overview: The Project Manager position is a critical role within UNOPS, responsible for overseeing the delivery and performance of infrastructure projects. The incumbent will develop and implement project plans, ensuring that sustainability dimensions, including social, gender inclusion, environmental, and economic aspects, are integrated throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Manager will manage resources, monitor project progress, and ensure compliance with quality requirements. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, as the Project Manager will establish relationships with various stakeholders, including clients and project boards, to facilitate effective communication and project success. Additionally, the Project Manager will be responsible for knowledge management and innovation, ensuring that lessons learned are documented and shared to improve future project outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Project Delivery and Performance: Develop and update implementation plans, manage project outputs, ensure quality compliance, and lead contract management duties.
Procedures: Comply with UNOPS policies, manage reporting obligations, and maintain project files.
Personnel Management: Lead and motivate the project team, conduct performance reviews, and ensure safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security for all personnel.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, Development Studies, Finance, Economics, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Business, Project Management, or various engineering fields. A combination of a Bachelor's degree with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Certification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMI) is considered an asset, and the incumbent must complete specific UNOPS training within three months of joining.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in a relevant field. Acceptable fields include International Relations, Development Studies, Finance, Economics, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Business, Project Management, Architecture, and various engineering disciplines. A Bachelor's degree combined with 2 years of relevant experience may substitute for the advanced degree requirement. Certification in Project Management is advantageous, and completion of UNOPS training is mandatory within the first three months of employment.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing and managing infrastructure projects is required. This includes experience with roads, dams, bridges, irrigation, health projects, and renewable energy projects. Experience in contract management and knowledge of FIDIC contracts are advantageous. Candidates should have technical acumen to understand project plans and documents, experience in health and safety procedures, and familiarity with procurement strategies. Proficiency in MS Project and schedule analysis is desirable, along with experience in developing countries or post-conflict environments. Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as experience in managing multicultural teams.
Languages: Full working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within diverse teams and stakeholders.

The duration of the contract is 12 months, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
