Job Overview: The consultant will play a pivotal role in leading resource mobilization efforts for education programs in Afghanistan, ensuring the effective implementation of UNESCO's planned education initiatives. This position requires a strategic approach to engage with donors, develop high-quality proposals, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. The consultant will be responsible for aligning project proposals with donor priorities and UNESCO's strategic goals, facilitating communication between program teams and donors, and providing technical guidance to support program implementation. The role demands a deep understanding of the education sector, particularly in post-conflict contexts, and the ability to navigate complex challenges while maximizing resource mobilization opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Donor Engagement & Proposal Development: Lead engagement with current and prospective donors, develop high-quality proposals and project documents, ensure compliance with UNESCO standards, and prepare materials for donor meetings.
Donor Relations & Communication: Organize donor engagements, manage field visits, enhance donor visibility through communication strategies, and conduct research to identify funding opportunities.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration: Support alignment of project proposals with program priorities, maintain the resource mobilization plan, and facilitate resource mobilization working groups.
Support Implementation: Provide technical guidance to the Planning Monitoring and coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Coordination Team, support procurement processes, and ensure effective program implementation.
Gender Mainstreaming: Integrate gender perspectives in all activities and apply gender analysis concepts where feasible.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, business administration, social sciences, development studies, or a related field. A minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in education program implementation is required, along with at least five years of experience in resource mobilization or donor relations, preferably within UN or NGO sectors. A sound understanding of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus approach in programming is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent project management skills, analytical abilities, and interpersonal communication skills.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in a relevant field such as education, business administration, social sciences, or development studies is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of education program implementation and resource mobilization in a challenging context like Afghanistan.
Experience: The position requires at least ten years of relevant work experience in the implementation of education programs, with a strong emphasis on resource mobilization and donor relations. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in the UN or NGO sectors, particularly in crisis-affected contexts. Experience in managing projects and understanding the dynamics of post-conflict environments is highly valued.
Languages: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position.
