Job Posting Organization: The job posting organization is the United NationsMultidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Established in April 2014, MINUSCA was authorized by the United Nations security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council to address the ongoing security, humanitarian, human rights, and political crises in the Central African Republic. The mission's primary objective is the protection of civilians, alongside supporting the transition process, facilitating humanitarian assistance, promoting and protecting human rights, and supporting justice and the rule of law. MINUSCA currently comprises approximately 11,650 military personnel and 2,080 police personnel, all working towards creating a stable environment conducive to reducing the threats posed by armed groups in the region. The mission also took over from the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in the Central African Republic (BINUCA) and the African Union-led peacekeeping operation (MISCA).
Job Overview: The UNV Movement Control Assistant will play a crucial role in managing the Movement Control operations within the mission area. This position requires the volunteer to assist in the control of military, police, and civilian personnel and equipment movements throughout the designated theater of responsibility. The assistant will work under the supervision of a Movcon Officer and will be responsible for various tasks including liaising with Movement Control Section detachments, preparing briefings and statistical reports, and coordinating movement activities across different transport modalities such as road, air, and river. The role is vital for ensuring the smooth execution of rotations and repatriations of military and police contingents, as well as providing on-ground liaison with international civilian transport agencies to implement movement plans effectively. The assistant will also oversee air terminal operations, assisting with passenger baggage movement and check-in processes, and may be required to deploy with a mobile Movement team for high-intensity operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the UNV Movement Control Assistant include:
Assisting in the control and management of military, police, and civilian personnel and equipment movements throughout the mission area.
Providing an interface and liaison capacity with Movement Control Section detachments and Offices as required.
Preparing briefings and statistical reports related to movement operations.
Arranging and coordinating movement activities within a sector or mission area, including road, air, and river transport.
Assisting in the planning and execution of rotations and repatriations of military and police contingents.
Providing on-the-ground liaison and coordination with international civilian transport agencies to support the implementation of contingent movement plans.
Deploying and assisting in the supervision of a mobile Movement team for high-intensity operations when directed.
Overseeing and participating in air terminal operations, including assisting with the movement of passenger baggage and the check-in of passengers.
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of movement control operations, logistics, and coordination. Candidates should possess good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in using computer software for reporting and data management is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates for the UNV Movement Control Assistant position should have a minimum of a secondary education.
