Job Posting Organization:
The job posting organization is the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Established in April 2014, MINUSCA was authorized by the UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council to address the security, humanitarian, human rights, and political crises in the Central African Republic. The mission's primary objective is the protection of civilians, and it operates with a significant presence of uniformed personnel, including 11,650 military personnel and 2,080 police personnel. MINUSCA aims to create political, security, and institutional conditions conducive to reducing the threat posed by armed groups in the region. The mission also supports various processes such as disarmament, demobilization, reintegration, and repatriation, and works closely with the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in the Central African Republic (BINUCA).

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Planning Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Mission Planning Officer and will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of strategic planning documents. This position involves translating the mission's mandated tasks into coherent objectives, timelines, and expected outcomes, serving as authoritative guides for the development and implementation of Mission and Component plans. The officer will also contribute to the preparation of the Mission Results-Based Budget (RBB) and collaborate with the UN Country Team to implement the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. This includes establishing a system for monitoring and evaluating progress. The Planning Officer will be responsible for drafting inputs for reports and planning documents, supporting joint planning efforts among Mission components and UNCT members, and managing online planning tools for data management and analysis. Additionally, the officer will provide secretariat support and technical assistance for meetings organized by the Joint Mission Planning Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer Planning Officer include:
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of strategic planning documents that align with the vision of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG).
  • Translating mission mandated tasks into coherent objectives, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Mission Results-Based Budget (RBB).
  • Collaborating with the UN Country Team to implement the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, including monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Drafting inputs for regular reports and relevant planning documents for review by the Senior Mission Planning Officer.
  • Supporting integrated planning efforts between Mission components, UNCT members, and other partners in accordance with guidelines.
  • Managing and utilizing Mission online planning tools for data management and analysis.
  • Providing secretariat support and technical assistance for meetings chaired or organized by the Joint Mission Planning Unit.

Required Qualifications:
