The Inclusive Digital Economies (IDE) project in Bangladesh is a key initiative aimed at leveraging digital technologies to improve financial access and literacy among marginalized groups, thereby contributing to broader socio-economic development and poverty reduction goals.

Job Overview:
The District Project Associate will play a crucial role in implementing the Inclusive Digital Economies (IDE) project at the field level in Bangladesh. This position involves coordinating project activities, monitoring progress against the approved work plan, and facilitating on-ground interventions in collaboration with various stakeholders. The associate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of financial literacy programs, entrepreneurship training, and the development of financial products tailored to the needs of vulnerable populations. The role requires strong collaboration with local partners, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes and to empower beneficiaries through improved financial capabilities and access to digital financial services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The District Project Associate will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the implementation of project activities at the district level and monitoring progress against the work plan.
  • Coordinating the production of project outputs in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Facilitating on-ground monitoring and supporting the implementation of the Shafal project intervention in five districts.
  • Identifying local-level implementation partners and potential business opportunities.
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with relevant government and local agencies.
  • Conducting preliminary site-level scoping studies focusing on vulnerable populations.
  • Performing project management actions to ensure timely achievement of outputs and outcomes.
  • Providing administrative support to subcontractors and project partners.
  • Preparing presentations and reports on project results for internal and donor reporting. 1
  • Ensuring gender mainstreaming and the collection of sex-disaggregated data. 1
  • Preparing progress reports and maintaining a database of project activities. 1
  • Collecting impact stories and preparing case studies as required. 1
  • Supporting the formulation of new projects based on results achieved.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the District Project Associate position should possess a strong set of qualifications, including:
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in development or humanitarian settings.
  • Strong understanding of financial inclusion and digital financial services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis, with a focus on monitoring and evaluation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, finance, or a related field is required for this position. A master's degree would be an advantage, particularly in areas related to economic development or financial inclusion.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of relevant work experience in project management, preferably in the context of financial inclusion or economic development initiatives. Experience working with marginalized communities and understanding their financial needs is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Bengali is also required, as it is essential for effective communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region would be considered an asset.
