Job Overview: The Finance Assistant position at GOAL involves a range of financial and administrative tasks aimed at ensuring compliance with national laws, donor regulations, and GOAL policies. Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Assistant will be tasked with processing payments in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, maintaining both hard and soft copies of cashbook and bankbook records, and ensuring that all supporting documents are scanned and stored securely. The role includes filing Payment Request Forms (PRFs) and associated documentation, following up on missing vendor receipts, managing the cashbox with weekly cash counts, and preparing month-end packs for cashbooks and bankbooks. The Finance Assistant will also request petty cash when necessary, handle banking tasks, prepare bank letters, and update payment and bank-letter trackers daily. Additionally, the assistant will assist in preparing documentation for audits and support finance-related tasks during internal and external audits, all while adhering to GOAL Syria’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manuals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Finance Assistant position should ideally be fresh graduates, preferably with an internship or relevant training. While one year of experience in administration, finance, or auditing is advantageous, it is not mandatory. A recognized professional accounting qualification is preferred, along with knowledge of auditing procedures and strong attention to detail. Candidates should possess strong communication skills in Arabic and/or English, both spoken and written, and be capable of fostering respectful and effective communication with management and staff. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with MS Office and relevant applications, is essential. The ideal candidate should be well-organized, flexible, and able to manage shifting priorities with a high level of attention to detail. Prior experience with international NGOs is preferred, and candidates should demonstrate self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and the ability to work independently while taking initiative when needed.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the Finance Assistant position includes a degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
