Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Business Development Specialist will lead the development of high-quality proposals and supporting documents for proactive pitches and competitive solicitations targeting US institutional donors. Responsibilities include conducting thorough reviews of technical and financial proposals, liaising with international program staff to provide guidance on business development, serving as a lead or support writer for proposals, identifying partners, negotiating roles on proposal teams, and traveling to strategic countries for program development efforts. The specialist will also collaborate with various teams to ensure knowledge management systems are current and conduct other duties as needed in the Programs function.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of six years of experience in international development, humanitarian, or social sectors, with a proven track record in securing and managing high-value awards from various donors. Experience with USAID opportunity tracking, pre-positioning, and partner negotiation is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to write clear and persuasive proposals, possess excellent English editing skills, and have strong interpersonal skills for working in diverse teams. A commitment to the values of Concern Worldwide and eligibility to work in the US are also required.
Educational Background:
Experience: The position requires at least six years of relevant experience in international development or related fields, with a focus on business development and fundraising. Candidates should have experience in managing high-value awards and familiarity with US Government business development processes, particularly those of USAID and the US State Department.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with additional language skills in French or Arabic being preferred. Strong editing skills in English are essential for the role.
Additional Notes: The position offers a salary range of $80,000 – $90,000 per year and is based in New York City or Washington, DC, with the possibility of remote work.
