The organization focuses on collective outcomes that aim to reduce risks, needs, and vulnerabilities faced by affected populations. OCHA Colombia specifically works to ensure that evidence-based situational awareness informs humanitarian action, facilitating timely and flexible financing to meet the needs of the most vulnerable individuals. The organization advocates for effective humanitarian action on behalf of these vulnerable groups, contributing to their protection and well-being.

Job Overview:
The position of Gerente de Información de Campo is crucial for the effective management of information related to humanitarian actions in Colombia. The role involves working closely with Local Coordination Teams (ECL) and OCHA to ensure that data and analysis are streamlined and provided in a timely manner. The manager will oversee the collection and dissemination of information that informs humanitarian responses, ensuring that the needs of vulnerable populations are met. This position requires a proactive approach to managing information systems and platforms, as well as the ability to produce both narrative and visual information products that adhere to established criteria. The role also involves supporting the ECL in their information management processes, ensuring that the humanitarian response is well-coordinated and effective.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the management, feeding, and updating of systems, platforms, tools, and websites (such as Monitor, 345W, salahumanitaria.co) established for consolidating information on the humanitarian situation and response, as well as peacebuilding and development efforts, with a focus on gender, age, and ethnicity.
  • Ensure the timely update and/or creation of information products (both public and internal), both narrative and visual, according to the criteria established in the work plan of the location where the information manager is based.
  • Assist the ECL in their information management processes to support the monitoring of the situation and awareness, response tracking, and decision-making processes.
  • Provide technical support and participate in processes established by the ECL within the humanitarian programming cycle, ensuring that individuals with sectoral needs, humanitarian gaps, and responses in their region are informed.
  • Participate and actively support the execution of rapid needs assessments (MIRA) and their respective reports when humanitarian impact is evident, promoting the use of gender tools in MIRA.
  • Engage in and support existing coordination spaces at local and national levels as necessary, within the framework of the established functions and topics for the position.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with thematic focal points in Bogotá to inform about ad hoc information requests from other partners or ECL members.
  • Participate in follow-up meetings via teleconferences and send weekly reports on response actions, high-level visits, and other relevant situations that need to be known at the national level.
  • Support OCHA's programmatic activities at the national level, particularly in relation to reporting in English or Spanish, data processing, infographic design, and/or mapping when required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in information management, data analysis, and reporting in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in using information management tools and platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with various stakeholders, including local authorities, NGOs, and UN agencies.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.

Educational Background:

A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in information management, data analysis, or related fields, preferably within humanitarian or development organizations. Experience working in complex emergency settings and familiarity with the humanitarian coordination system is highly desirable.

Fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position may involve travel to various locations within Colombia, depending on the needs of the humanitarian response.
