Job Overview:
The position of Mécanicien de carrosserie/peintre involves the repair and maintenance of the bodies of a mixed fleet of vehicles, trailers, and specialized equipment for the United Nations. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the workshop director and is expected to provide technical advice and assistance to colleagues. The role requires performing necessary repairs and painting work to ensure that vehicles, trucks, and equipment are kept in good condition. The mechanic will be responsible for various tasks including denting, welding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for painting. This position is crucial for maintaining the operational readiness of UN vehicles and ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Mécanicien de carrosserie/peintre include:

• Performing body repairs on vehicles, including dent removal using tools like jacks, and reshaping panels.
• Conducting welding to repair structural damage as necessary.
• Sanding surfaces to prepare them for painting.
• Cleaning the work area to remove dust, grease, and debris before painting.
• Masking areas that should not be painted using paper and tape.
• Applying primer to improve paint adhesion and prevent rust.
• Applying base coat paint in multiple thin layers, allowing each layer to dry.
• Applying a clear coat finish to protect and enhance the shine of the paint.
• Ensuring proper drying and curing of paint, potentially using heat lamps or drying booths. 1
• Reassembling parts removed during disassembly. 1
• Polishing surfaces to ensure a smooth finish. 1
• Conducting final inspections to check for imperfections and making necessary corrections. 1
