Job Overview: The Finance Assistant position is situated within the Finance and Budget Section of the Division of Administration at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role involves direct reporting to the Head of the Payroll and Disbursement Unit and encompasses a range of financial responsibilities. Specific duties include: processing payments for travel claims and salaries, assisting in payroll verification, reconciling accounts, preparing separation notifications for the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund, and generating expenditure reports. The Finance Assistant will support the Finance/Budget Officers in issuing allotments and ensuring data accuracy in financial systems. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. A strong understanding of financial rules and regulations, particularly within the UN environment, is essential. Experience with financial software and systems, particularly ERP systems like Umoja or SAP, is highly desirable.

Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of experience in finance, accounting, or related areas. Candidates should have experience in processing, verifying, or reconciling accounts related to salary, payroll, or accounts payable. Experience within the United Nations Common System or a similar large international organization is desirable, as is familiarity with data analytics. Candidates should provide examples of their relevant experience in their applications.
