Job Overview:
As the WASH Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing the operational strategy for Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) within the mission. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the quality of current and future WASH programs throughout their design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation phases. You will also be tasked with building the capacity of the WASH department and providing technical support to project teams, particularly the WASH Project Managers. Additionally, you will represent PUI to various stakeholders, including authorities, humanitarian actors, and donors, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration within the WASH sector. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying WASH needs and designing relevant interventions that align with PUI's framework and market-based programming principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will encompass several key areas: conducting context analysis and contributing to the operational strategy for WASH; providing technical support to program teams to ensure the quality and effectiveness of WASH programs; representing PUI in external meetings and coordination groups; supporting the recruitment and training of technical staff in the WASH department; ensuring compliance with logistic and administrative procedures; and contributing to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security compliance within the mission. You will also be responsible for monitoring WASH activities, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, and facilitating information sharing within the sector.

Required Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you must hold a university degree in water supply, sanitation, or hygiene. A background in project management is considered an asset. You should have a minimum of 3 years of experience managing humanitarian projects, with a strong focus on WASH management. Experience in team management, needs assessment, and monitoring of activities is essential. Familiarity with institutional donor procedures, such as those from ECHO and UNHCR, is also advantageous. Previous experience with Première Urgence Internationale will be viewed favorably.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as water supply, sanitation, or hygiene. Additional training in project management would enhance your candidacy and is considered beneficial for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing humanitarian projects, particularly in the WASH sector. Candidates should have a proven track record in team management and WASH program implementation. Experience as a technical coordinator in humanitarian projects, as well as in needs assessment and monitoring, is highly valued. Previous work with Première Urgence Internationale is a significant advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a definite asset, enhancing your ability to engage with local stakeholders and communities effectively.

  • The monthly gross income ranges from 2,650 to 3,130 EUR, depending on your experience in international solidarity, with an additional 50 EUR per semester for seniority with PUI. Benefits include medical coverage, a housing allowance of 500 USD per month, daily living expenses (per diem), a break policy allowing for 5 working days off at 3 and 9 months, and 5 weeks of paid leave per year, along with a return ticket every 6 months.
