Job Description
 
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis and drive and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. With offices in more than 160 countries and territories, we offer global perspective and local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations. UNDP has been collaborating with the Government of Bangladesh and local communities across Bangladesh since 1972 to reduce poverty, strengthen the country’s resilience in response to climate change and natural disasters, and build capable, inclusive, and responsible governance institutions. Objectives:  A key necessity for the successful passage of these solutions is to instill awareness through efficient communications between various stakeholders, both current and future, of the work that UNDP does, the underlying concepts, and how they add up to the global picture. It is also imperative to build strong partnerships with multiple stakeholders to achieve these goals. The national consultant will be working with the UNDP country office’s communications and partnerships teams to ensure coordinated branding of UNDP and promoting SDGs through Audio Visuals, Creative stuff like infographics, illustrations, social media content, presentations, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of work: The national consultant will be working based on assignments from the communications, including but not limited to
  • Manage and produce visual elements and creative communication content for the country office through consultations with the communications team
  • Prototype design for IEC materials like reports, storybooks, and different promotional items, banners, diaries, cards, etc.
  • Design social media content for various platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Twitter for UNDP
  • Social media portfolio promoting SDGs for the mass audience using appealing stuff
  • Develop Infographics and Data Visualization items for different projects of UNDP
  • Support the Audio-Visual Production team and provide information design support for various projects.
Expected outputs/deliverables: The national consultant working in close coordination with the communications and partnership unit is expected to deliver a minimum of the following by the end of the contract duration.
  1.   Submit an inception plan including a timeline after
  • Find the gaps
  • Assess the need for the projects
15 days 15 working days after signing of the contract 20% 2.  Submit your 1st progress report on:
  • #MaskUp Bangladesh (Covid19) Branding in Train & railway stations, Bus & bus stands, Launch & Launch terminals.
  • Covid19 awareness materials like Poster, Social media Post, X-Banner Design, Billboard, etc., design to final output.
  • Weekly “The Week” Design.
  • Book design & Illustration for the country office.
  • Design templates for social media content for various platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Twitter for UNDP;
  • Assist in Audio-Video Production and provide information design support to UNDP country office;
  • Develop Infographics and Data Visualization items;
  • Finalize the designs by considering and incorporating feedback from the relevant projects and the Head of Communications.
35 days 40 working days after submission of inception plan 40% 3.  Submit 2nd progress (Final) report on:
  • Developing an illustration (for ground & 17 the floor wall painting) highlighting UNDP’s journey in Bangladesh and its changing roles.
  • Gift item design and development;
  • Infographics for different projects and events on current affairs;
  • Folder Design, Flyer Illustration & design (Bangla & English)
  • Designing templates for various messages to be dispersed by UNDP Bangladesh on national and UN occasions.
  • Developing draft animations based on project activities highlighting UNDP’s role in achieving each of the 17 SDGs
  • Finalize the designs by considering and incorporating feedback from the relevant projects and Head of Communications

Language Required: Fluency in speaking and writing in English

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications:
  • Minimum Master’s degree in Fine Arts/graphic design/animation/AV production or related field
Years of experience:
  • At least 3 (three) years of experience in print, graphics design and animation,
  • Minimum 2(two) years of work experience using design software like Adobe Creative Suites
  • Minimum 1(one) year of work experience using video editing software
  • Experience working with UN/International Organizations/development agencies
Financial Proposal: The individual contractor will have to provide a financial proposal specifying the daily fees and payments will be made to the Individual Consultant based on the number of days worked. Travel: The national consultant is expected to work from the office mainly. In the case of unforeseeable travel, payment of travel costs (inclusive of terminal charges), including tickets, should be agreed upon between the respective business unit and Individual Consultant, before travel. He/she will be eligible for Daily Subsistence Allowance in line with UNDP’s policies. Supervision and Performance Evaluation: The National Consultant for Branding and Visualization will report to the Head of Communications of the country office. Timeframe and deadline:  85 working days over 06 months(Tentative). Reports: The National Consultant for Branding and Visualization will be working hands-on with the Communications and Partnership Team of the Country Office. Therefore, the activities of the incumbent will be regularly monitored by the Head of Communications. Evaluation of the Candidates: Individual consultants will be evaluated based on the following methodology: Cumulative analysis: The candidates will be evaluated through the Cumulative Analysis method. The award of the contract will be made to the individual consultant whose offer has been evaluated and determined as: a) responsive/compliant/acceptable, and b) Having received the highest score out of a pre-determined set of weighted technical and financial criteria specific to the solicitation. Only candidates who obtain a minimum of 49 points in the technical evaluation would be considered for Financial Evaluation. Financial Evaluation (Total 30 marks)All qualified technical proposals will be scored out of 30 based on the formula provided below. The maximum points (30) will be assigned to the lowest financial proposal. All other proposals received points according to the following formula:
