Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Senior Project Engineer, the Associate Engineer will be responsible for the following functions: 1- Planning and Designing: • Prepares industrial automation and control engineering design of complex process and instrument control for energy, water/wastewater treatment plants, Reverses Osmosis WTPs(Water Treatment Plant), environmental monitoring, production lines, including hardware and software, such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, process network, instrumentation, HMI (Human Machine Interface), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and drive control. • Applies commonly used engineering calculations, practices and precedents in completing portion of larger projects related to the design, construction, or repair of buildings, roads, bridges, airfields helipads, railways, docks, waste disposal systems, flood control systems, water treatment facilities, electrical power generation and distribution systems, environmental control systems, field defenses, mine detection and clearance, and other related structures and activities of the field. • Conducts preliminary site investigations to obtain field data such as soil characteristics, drainage and other data required for building site selection. • Prepares design layout for smaller or less complex portions of buildings and facilities. • Produces cost data and estimates on engineering-related requirements of current and planned field missions. Participates in budget projections. • Completes engineering drawings using AutoCAD software. Where necessary, visits work sites for inspections of site conditions and/or taking of measurements. • Maintains and controls any request for copies of architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical plans. 2- Implementation • Provides support in projects management, industrial automation projects from concept through execution to closure, rehabilitation, modernization and retrofits of various old industrial plants by introducing new technologies and automation (PLC/SCADA) systems, hybrid (PV/Diesel /Battery/Utility) energy installations solar PV (Photo Voltaic) energy installations, and solar thermal systems. • Develops technical data regarding materials, sizes, dimensions, and quantities and costs to be incorporated in formal specifications. • Analyzes project proposals to ensure technical feasibility and to ensure that project objectives are attainable within the prescribed resources. • Liaises with other engineers and mission specialists responsible for related specialized phases to arrive at mutually satisfactory approaches to problems by exchanging and comparing data. • Undertakes research to gather information related to engineering projects. • Prepares engineering presentations using advances in technologies. • Evaluates technical proposals from bidders/vendors for solicitation processes. • Provides where possible recommendations for improvement to current Unit workflows/ processes and implements (in coordination with respective Unit staff). • Applies standard engineering practices and precedents in construction, maintenance and repairs of installations, structures and facilities. • Performs other duties as required.

EducationAn advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related fields is required. A first-level or advanced degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or equivalent) in any fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree in the specified fields of studies.
Work ExperienceA minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in Electrical Engineering Design, preparation of SOW (Scope of Work) and BOQ (Bill of Quantity) is required. Experience in providing and managing support and supervision for operations and maintenance for offices, accommodations, engineering equipment and infrastructure is required. UN experience in the relevant field is desirable.
