Job Overview:
The Senior AI Architect position at the World Bank Group is a pivotal role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU). This role is designed for a highly skilled individual who will lead the AI strategy for the ITS Operations Products unit (ITSOP). The successful candidate will be responsible for translating the AI strategy into secure, scalable, and production-ready solutions that align with the organization's mission of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity. This position requires a hands-on approach, where the architect will design and prototype AI components, develop reference implementations, and guide engineering teams through deployment and operationalization. The role is not merely advisory; it demands recent, demonstrable experience in building and operating Generative AI and agentic solutions in enterprise environments, ensuring that the solutions developed are effective and impactful.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior AI Architect will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities that include: developing the ITSOP AI strategy and capability roadmap, translating business opportunities into prioritized AI use cases, designing end-to-end solutions that encompass user experience, models, APIs, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and evaluating technology choices and architecture trade-offs. The architect will also engage in hands-on prototyping and engineering, creating working prototypes using Python, conducting design and code reviews, and troubleshooting complex issues. Additionally, the role involves designing agentic solutions, integrating them with enterprise applications, and ensuring production quality and security by implementing evaluation frameworks and automated testing processes. The architect will act as a technical advisor, mentor team members, and monitor emerging AI technologies to recommend their adoption where beneficial.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Information Systems, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience is acceptable. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale Generative AI and/or Agentic AI solutions, along with strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python development. Knowledge of responsible AI principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders are also essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or Information Systems. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of AI architecture and implementation in enterprise environments.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree, or at least 10 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Candidates should have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and continuously improving enterprise AI solutions in production environments. Experience with enterprise data, APIs, applications, and workflow platforms is essential, as is familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI solution architecture.
