Job Overview:
The Inter-Agency Support and Coordination Specialist plays a crucial role within the UN System Coordination Division of UN Women. This position is responsible for supporting gender mainstreaming across the UN system, particularly through the implementation of the UN System-Wide Action Plan (UN-SWAP) and the UNCT-SWAP Gender Equality Scorecard. The Specialist will work under the guidance of the Coordination Director and the UN Coordination Advisor, contributing to the operationalization of gender equality initiatives at corporate, regional, and country team levels. The role involves providing technical contributions, substantive support, and coordination for various gender equality frameworks, ensuring accountability and coherence in the UN's work on gender equality. The Specialist will also engage in monitoring and reporting on gender mainstreaming results, preparing communication materials, and implementing capacity-building initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Inter-Agency Support and Coordination Specialist include providing technical contributions and support for the implementation of the UN-SWAP and related frameworks. This involves coordinating with other UN entities, providing guidance and training, and developing initiatives to support gender equality policies. The Specialist will also be responsible for organizing inter-agency workshops, reviewing accountability frameworks, and providing technical assistance to UN-SWAP focal points. Additionally, the role includes monitoring and reporting on gender mainstreaming strategies, producing entity-level reports, and supporting the drafting of high-level reports for the Secretary-General. The Specialist will manage the UN-SWAP online reporting platform, contribute to knowledge management efforts, and develop partnerships with various stakeholders to enhance accountability for gender mainstreaming.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in gender issues, social sciences, economics, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Qualifications or training in data analysis, data research, and knowledge management are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of inter-agency processes related to gender equality and possess excellent drafting, editing, and oral presentation skills. Strong planning, organizing, and supervisory skills are also required, along with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as gender studies, social sciences, or economics. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience. Candidates with qualifications in data analysis and knowledge management will have an advantage.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible work experience in gender equality and women's empowerment, including experience in inter-agency coordination and gender mainstreaming. Experience in capacity-building initiatives related to gender mainstreaming is essential, as is familiarity with digital technologies and online collaboration tools. Relevant experience within the UN Common System is required, and international experience is desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is desirable, and proficiency in another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is also considered an asset.
