Job Overview: The Associate Financial Accounting position is a critical role within the Bank’s Financial Accounting team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and producing financial reports for the Bank. The Associate will apply relevant accounting rules to ensure compliance and provide meaningful financial reporting. This role requires collaboration with various departments to gather and analyze information necessary for fulfilling both internal and external financial reporting obligations. The Associate will also handle inquiries from internal and external auditors regarding their areas of responsibility, ensuring that all financial practices align with the Bank's policies and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate will be tasked with preparing sections of the year-end financial statements, ensuring all disclosures and notes are accurate and submitted by tight deadlines. They will prepare periodic internal financial management reports and assess the impact of the latest IFRS accounting standards on the EBRD's financial statements to ensure compliance. The role involves maintaining up-to-date accounting policies consistent with IFRS, assessing the accounting treatment of banking products, and conducting investigations to identify necessary accounting postings. The Associate will maintain the accounting and reporting systems, review transactions for accuracy, liaise with operations teams to resolve booking issues, and provide advice on financial products. Additionally, they will supervise and train new team members, ensure compliance with the Bank’s Internal Controls Framework, and support the team in delivering the Compass transformation project, which includes process design, system testing, and data migration.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be educated to degree level and hold an ACA qualification or equivalent. Significant relevant accounting experience is required, preferably in a financial services setting. The role demands strong numerical and financial skills, the ability to interpret financial information, and proficiency in data analysis. Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools is essential. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly IFRS 9 and IAS 32, and have strong computer skills, especially in Excel. Experience with SAP or equivalent accounting systems is preferable.
Educational Background: A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should also hold a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent, which demonstrates a high level of expertise in financial accounting and reporting.
Experience: The position requires significant relevant accounting experience, ideally within a financial services environment. Candidates should have a proven track record in statutory financial accounts preparation and/or audit experience, showcasing their ability to manage complex financial data and reporting requirements effectively.
Languages: Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written, are mandatory for this role. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
