Job Overview:
The Driver position at FAO Vietnam is crucial for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation and logistical support to the Programme Team. The role involves supporting the transportation needs of FAO personnel, officials, visitors, and program activities, which include official missions, field travel, meetings, and events. The Driver will play a significant role in ensuring the smooth and effective implementation of FAO operations by maintaining vehicles, ensuring efficient transportation arrangements, and adhering to safety, security, and traffic regulations. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality service and support to the FAO team and its stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

• Providing reliable and secure driving services by transporting Programme personnel during official missions, field visits, meetings, workshops, and other program-related activities.
• Picking up and dropping off personnel at airports, hotels, meeting venues, field sites, and other official locations as required.
• Following appropriate and safe routes to ensure timely arrival at destinations.
• Delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items to Government Offices, Embassies, Commercial Establishments, and UN Offices when required.
• Ensuring that all passengers wear seatbelts at all times in the vehicles.
• Overseeing and ensuring that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
• Adhering to relevant job-specific guidelines and policies of FAO, including the vehicle management policy.
• Ensuring that all vehicles comply with the Security and Safety standards established at the duty station through the Security Risk Management process.
• Maintaining daily vehicle logs, including mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, servicing, greasing, and repairs. 1
• Preparing and maintaining data of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports. 1
• Ensuring that all official vehicles are kept clean, washed, and in good working condition. 1
• Making minor repairs and arranging for major repairs as necessary. 1
• Conducting regular checks on vehicle components such as oil, tire tread depth and pressure, lights, indicators, wipers, horn, clutch, and brakes, and addressing any warning indicators on the dashboard in a timely manner. 1
• Arranging for the winterization of office vehicles when required by local traffic regulations or when travel to areas affected by snow is planned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

• A completed high school diploma.
• A valid driver’s license.
• At least three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record.
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills.
• Skills in minor vehicle repairs.
• A working knowledge of the English language (C1 level).
• Candidates must be nationals of Vietnam or residents of the country with a valid work permit.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed high school diploma. This foundational education is essential for understanding the responsibilities and duties associated with the role of a driver, including navigation, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant work experience as a driver, particularly in an international organization, embassy, or within the UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record, knowledge of local driving regulations, and familiarity with the operational protocols of international organizations.

Languages:
A working knowledge of the English language at a C1 level is mandatory for this position. This proficiency is essential for effective communication within the FAO team and with external stakeholders. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
