The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was established in 1997 and operates globally to assist member states in combating illicit drugs, crime, and terrorism. The UNODC has been active in Bolivia since the mid-1980s, working on various initiatives related to rural development, drug prevention, and institutional strengthening against drug trafficking. The organization has a presence in approximately 125 countries and collaborates with various partners to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects.

Job Overview:
The Asistente de Comunicaciones position is designed to support the communication strategies of UNODC in Bolivia by creating engaging content that fosters interaction and managing digital platforms to enhance institutional visibility and broaden the reach of activities and programs. The role involves collaborating with specialists in content generation, managing social media accounts, and implementing institutional communication actions. The assistant will work under the direct supervision of the UNODC Representative in Bolivia and will contribute to the dissemination of project results and impacts, ensuring that communication aligns with the organization's branding and identity guidelines. This position is crucial for promoting the UNODC's initiatives and enhancing public awareness of its work in combating drug-related issues and organized crime in Bolivia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Asistente de Comunicaciones will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the development of communication materials such as audiovisual, digital, and printed content.
  • Ensuring the correct application of UNODC's visual identity and branding in all communication materials.
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations, press releases, and publications for meetings and workshops.
  • Supporting the logistics of meetings and drafting minutes.
  • Compiling reports and summaries of workshops and informational sessions.
  • Contributing to the development of a cohesive brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Assisting in the production of video tutorials and other audiovisual materials aligned with the office's communication strategy.
  • Writing short articles and other communication products that are visually appealing and easy to understand.
  • Developing and managing communication materials, campaigns, publications, and events to strengthen institutional visibility. 1
  • Maintaining archives and databases related to communication and managing the office's social media accounts. 1
  • Organizing the office's photographic archive and selecting appropriate images to complement written content. 1
  • Updating the website to ensure that published information is accurate and current. 1
  • Actively participating in training and capacity-building initiatives related to communications for staff. 1
  • Contributing to knowledge networks and Communities of Practice (CoPs).

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A secondary education diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree in Social Communication, Graphic Design, Audiovisual Communication, or related fields with no prior experience.
  • A recognized professional certification in communications, journalism, or digital communications and social media is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in communication, public relations, media, journalism, community management, digital communication, and social media or related fields is required.
  • Experience in multicultural environments or with United Nations organizations in developing countries is desirable.
  • Experience in development or humanitarian action contexts is a plus.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring content aimed at community or grassroots audiences is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools, video production, and content creation is advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes:
  • A secondary education diploma (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or
  • A bachelor's degree in Social Communication, Graphic Design, Audiovisual Communication, or related fields with no prior experience.
  • A professional certification recognized nationally or internationally in communications, journalism, or digital communications and social media is desirable.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position includes:
  • Relevant experience in communication, public relations, media, journalism, community management, digital communication, and social media or related fields is required.
  • Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments or with United Nations organizations in developing countries, as well as experience in development or humanitarian action contexts.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring content aimed at community or grassroots audiences is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools, video production, and content creation is advantageous.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is fluency in Spanish. Proficiency in English is desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as entry-level and is a full-time role under an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) with a contract type of LICA - Support - Regular. The contract is expected to last until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability, organizational needs, project duration, and satisfactory performance.
