Job Overview: The Financial Analyst Consultant will play a crucial role in the Delivery Unit, which operates under dual reporting to both the Corporates Division and the Andean Region Division. The Corporates Division focuses on the origination and delivery of operations in sectors such as agribusiness, mining, manufacturing, tourism, and the digital economy. Meanwhile, the Andean Region Division manages business and client engagement from a country perspective, overseeing the Country Representatives and Delivery Units. The consultant will assist in project feasibility assessments for lending and investment projects, conduct research on prospective project sponsors, and gather relevant market and financial data. This role requires the development of financial models to evaluate financial information and support management decision-making, as well as participation in appraisal missions to assess potential projects. Establishing and maintaining quality client relationships is essential to enhance new business opportunities and ensure responsive client service. The consultant will also assist in preparing detailed post-appraisal project reports and may help supervise approved projects to ensure compliance with established agreements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Assisting with project feasibility assessments for lending and investment projects by conducting research on prospective project sponsors and gathering relevant market, industry, and financial data.
Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and developing or adapting financial models to evaluate financial information.
Participating in appraisal missions to gather necessary technical, legal, economic, and financial information for assessing potential projects.
Establishing and maintaining quality client relationships to ensure responsive service and enhance new business opportunities.
Assisting with the development of detailed post-appraisal project reports, compiling data, conducting analyses, and preparing reports on capital costs, financing plans, and legal considerations.
Assisting with disbursements for approved projects by verifying compliance with contractual conditions.
Supervising approved projects to ensure their development according to established agreements.
Preparing PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and other business-related reports required by the Delivery Unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields. They should have advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of financial statements and the ability to develop financial models that support management decision-making. Proficiency in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required, while knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered an asset. Candidates must also be eligible to work in the location without the need for sponsorship and have no family members working at IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding financial principles, economic theories, and business practices relevant to the role of a Financial Analyst Consultant.
Experience: Candidates should have between two (2) to four (4) years of progressive experience in loan origination, structuring, or portfolio management. A proven track record of working with both equity and debt in an investment bank, commercial bank, or development bank is desirable. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial transactions and the ability to analyze and assess potential investment opportunities effectively.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders and clients in the region.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as a national consultant role, requiring full-time commitment for a duration of 36 months, with the possibility of extension up to 48 months if applicable.
