Interns are expected to work full-time, five days a week, for a duration of six months, starting from September 28, 202

• The internship can be conducted either in-person in Geneva or remotely, depending on the intern's preference and circumstances. Interns will be involved in various tasks related to the TrainForTrade Programme, which focuses on enhancing the capacities of developing countries in trade logistics and management. This role will provide interns with exposure to the workings of the United Nations and the chance to contribute to meaningful projects that impact global trade and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist in conducting quantitative and qualitative research on trade-related issues, including the digital economy, trade statistics, and port management. They will participate in online meetings and webinars, contribute to the management of TrainForTrade online courses, and moderate forums. Interns will prepare drafts on specific topics, assist with proofreading and editing publications, and contribute to social media activities for the programme. They will also support the overall activities of the Human Resources Development Section as required. Training and mentoring will be provided throughout the internship to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme or the final academic year of a first university degree programme. They should demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and possess strong computer literacy in standard software applications. Interns must also exhibit the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and show a commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. No prior work experience is required, but a relevant field of study is necessary to benefit the UN during the internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level). A Ph.D. programme or equivalent is also acceptable. Proof of educational qualifications must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
No prior work experience is required for this internship position. However, candidates should have relevant academic training or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. The focus is on providing students and recent graduates with practical experience that complements their educational background.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, while proficiency in French and Spanish is also required. Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and all costs related to travel, accommodation, medical insurance, and living expenses must be covered by the intern. Interns must have a valid visa for in-person internships and are responsible for ensuring they meet all visa requirements. The internship is full-time, and candidates should be aware that there is no expectation of employment within the UN following the internship. Additionally, interns are not eligible to apply for professional positions within the UN for six months after completing their internship.
