Job Overview:
The Electromechanical engineer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Engineer position at CERN involves the development and implementation of electromechanical systems specifically for the manufacture and assembly of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets. This role is part of an ongoing research and development program that focuses on the unique characteristics of high-temperature superconducting materials, which are essential for future magnet applications. The engineer will be responsible for coil winding and assembly, instrumentation, and tooling, integrating mechanical, electrical, and control technologies to ensure the successful production of HTS coils. The position requires a proactive approach to design and implementation, as well as regular maintenance of machinery and technical infrastructure within the HTS magnet laboratory. The engineer will also prepare technical documentation and coordinate logistics for component assembly, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electromechanical Technical Engineer include designing and implementing dedicated systems for producing high-temperature superconductor-based coils, conducting regular maintenance of electromechanical systems, preparing technical documentation such as procedures and test reports, coordinating logistics for component assemblies, and performing acceptance tests for manufactured components. The engineer will also be expected to ensure traceability of components throughout the manufacturing process and to initiate and follow up on manufacturing requests and purchase orders. Additionally, the role may involve working in radiation-controlled areas and conducting interventions in underground installations as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Electro-mechanical Engineering or a related field. They should have hands-on experience in the design, manufacture, assembly, and maintenance of complex electromechanical equipment. Familiarity with quality documentation processes, including the compilation of tests and measurement reports, is essential. Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools for electromechanical design is considered an asset, as is previous experience with superconducting systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical competencies in the design and operation of electromechanical systems, as well as the assembly of mechanical structures and equipment.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required for this position. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education. The educational background should include a solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles, particularly as they relate to electromechanical systems.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial hands-on experience in the design and manufacture of electromechanical systems. This includes experience in assembly and maintenance of complex electromechanical equipment, as well as familiarity with quality documentation processes. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with procedures, compiling tests and measurements reports, and ensuring component traceability. Experience with CAD tools for electromechanical design is advantageous, and prior exposure to superconducting systems will be viewed favorably.

Languages:

Additional Notes:
The position is a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The role requires a valid driving license and involves working 40 hours per week fully onsite.
