Job Overview:

Interns will work under the supervision of experienced professionals in the Transport Section of the Trade Logistics Branch. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week. Interns can choose to work remotely or in-person in Geneva, provided they have the necessary visa for in-person work. The role involves supporting various research and technical cooperation projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of transport systems in developing countries. Interns will engage in a variety of tasks, including conducting desk research, analyzing data, and assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations related to sustainable transport and logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including: participating in meetings with supervisors and the Transport Section team; conducting desk research and preparing background notes and analytical drafts; collecting, compiling, and analyzing transport and logistics data; supporting the development of simulation tools; assisting in the implementation of technical assistance projects; preparing training and workshop materials; supporting organizational preparations for events; assisting in the creation of digital and print products; providing project implementation support; and attending and summarizing relevant conferences and meetings. Interns will also be expected to adhere to UN regulations and maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria to apply for the internship. They should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as transport, logistics, supply chains, communications, economics, or statistics. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and possess a strong interest in the work of the United Nations. No prior work experience is required, but relevant academic or volunteer experience is advantageous. The internship does not guarantee employment with the United Nations following its completion, and interns are not eligible to apply for professional positions within the UN for six months after the internship ends.
