Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for conducting research on migration policies and laws in the Arab region, summarizing findings, and populating the migration policies database. They will provide support for ESCWA's analytical and policy work related to ageing and migration, which includes preparing reports and presentations. Additionally, interns will assist in the logistical and substantive preparations for meetings and events organized by ESCWA. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school program or in the final academic year of a first university degree program. They should possess computer literacy in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. Applicants must also show a commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter and the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. No prior work experience is required, making this position suitable for students and recent graduates.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Fluency is defined as being rated 'fluent' in all four areas: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding, while knowledge is defined as being rated 'confident' in at least two of these areas.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last for a minimum of two months on a full-time basis, with the possibility of extending it for a maximum of six months. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and they are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.
