Job Overview: The GEDSI Technical Adviser position at WWF-Laos is pivotal in driving the integration of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles across the organization's conservation efforts. This role involves providing technical support, coordination, and capacity strengthening to ensure that GEDSI is embedded in all planning, implementation, monitoring, and learning processes. The adviser will work closely with various teams within WWF-Laos, including conservation and operational teams, to promote inclusive and equitable conservation outcomes. The position is designed to ensure that GEDSI is not treated as a separate initiative but as a fundamental aspect of all organizational functions. The adviser will also engage with local communities to ensure that conservation strategies are contextually relevant and inclusive of diverse ethnic groups in Laos.
Duties and Responsibilities: The GEDSI Technical Adviser will lead consultations with local communities and support program teams in integrating GEDSI considerations into project designs, work plans, and budgets. They will provide technical advice and develop practical tools to assist staff in applying GEDSI analysis to conservation planning and community engagement. The adviser will review project documents from a GEDSI perspective, ensuring that feedback and recommendations are constructive. They will also support the integration of GEDSI-responsive indicators into monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Additionally, the adviser will design and facilitate participatory processes, ensuring they are inclusive and culturally appropriate. The role includes developing and delivering GEDSI training for staff, enhancing their capacity to apply GEDSI approaches independently. The adviser will lead the development of WWF-Laos' GEDSI Action Plan and coordinate GEDSI-related inputs into organizational planning and reporting processes. They will also foster partnerships with local organizations focused on inclusion and contribute to policy briefs and advocacy materials.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in gender studies, social sciences, community development, international development, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is advantageous. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in GEDSI mainstreaming, gender analysis, or social inclusion programming is required, ideally within an NGO, conservation, or development organization operating in Laos. Practical experience in applying GEDSI frameworks in program design and implementation is essential, along with experience in training and capacity strengthening activities. Familiarity with inclusive community engagement approaches and the social context for gender equality in Laos is also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as gender studies, social sciences, community development, or international development.
