Job Overview:
As an Electrical Works Manager within the Cabling Section at CERN, you will be instrumental in the expansion, strengthening, and maintenance of CERN's control and power cable installations. These installations are crucial for various systems within CERN's accelerators, including alarm systems, process control systems, beam instrumentation, and magnet powering systems. Your role will involve analyzing installation and dismantling requests, conducting on-site technical visits, preparing bills of quantities and quotations, and developing comprehensive technical documentation for electrical installation contractors. You will also manage logistics for activities, carry out risk assessments to ensure safety and compliance, supervise daily activities, and report on the progress, safety, and quality of the works. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze installation and dismantling requests, ensuring all necessary information is gathered from requestors.
• Conduct on-site technical visits to prepare and coordinate activities effectively.
• Prepare detailed bills of quantities and quotations for electrical works.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation that outlines the work to be performed by CERN's electrical installation contractors.
• Manage logistics for activities, including material delivery, scaffolding setup, and site access.
• Conduct risk assessments related to work execution, identifying potential hazards and defining mitigation measures to ensure safety and compliance with CERN standards.
• Supervise daily activities of electrical works, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Perform inspections, testing, and acceptance of completed electrical work, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a technical certificate or general secondary education, or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Industrial Electrical Installation or a related field. Demonstrated experience in planning, preparing, and overseeing industrial electrical works is essential, including the implementation of lockout/tagout procedures. Additionally, candidates should have experience in verifying the technical quality and compliance of electrical installations with applicable standards and specifications, as well as technical supervision of contractors.

Educational Background:
A technical certificate or general secondary education in Industrial Electrical Installation or a related field is required. Candidates with equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles and practices.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in planning, preparing, and overseeing industrial electrical works. This includes practical experience with lockout/tagout procedures and technical supervision of contractors. Familiarity with the construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical circuits and networks is also necessary, along with experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical systems.

Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication within the diverse workforce at CERN.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The role requires a commitment to a 40-hour work week, with hybrid job flexibility. Candidates should be prepared for work in radiation areas, interventions in underground installations, and may need to hold a valid driving license. Shift work, stand-by duty, and work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays may be required based on the needs of the organization.
