Job Overview:

The intern will work under the supervision of the focal point for the Environment Thematic Priority, collaborating closely with both regional and headquarters teams. The primary focus will be on assisting with the preparation and implementation of projects that address e-waste regulation, greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainable ICT practices. The intern will also engage in promoting awareness and participation among member countries in standardization activities, particularly those related to environmental sustainability. This role is crucial for supporting the ITU's strategic goals and enhancing the capacity of member states to tackle pressing environmental challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: assisting in the preparation and implementation of ITU projects focused on climate change and circular economy; promoting participation of Asia and Pacific countries in ITU-T Study Group 5 activities; organizing meetings and workshops to raise awareness and build partnerships; participating in stakeholder consultations; maintaining and updating databases related to e-waste regulation and greenhouse gas emissions; and conducting research on relevant topics. These duties will require the intern to engage with various stakeholders, both online and in-person, to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or be in the process of completing an advanced degree in fields related to global environmental governance, sustainable development, or environmental studies. The position does not require prior work experience, making it suitable for recent graduates or students seeking practical experience in the field. Strong written and oral communication skills in English are essential, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.

Educational Background:
A university degree in global environmental governance, sustainable development, environmental studies, or a related field is required. Candidates who are currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program, or who have recently graduated within six months of the internship start date, are eligible to apply. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of environmental issues and the role of ICT in addressing them.

Experience:
No prior work experience is required for this internship position.
