The position of Especialista en Gestión de Proyectos y Patrimonio Cultural at UNESCO in Peru is crucial for enhancing the protection and management of cultural heritage, particularly in the context of disaster risk management and emergency preparedness. The specialist will provide technical assistance to the Culture Program, focusing on strengthening institutional capacities, developing cooperation initiatives, and mobilizing resources. The role involves coordinating various projects aimed at safeguarding cultural heritage, promoting cultural rights, and enhancing the resilience of cultural institutions against disasters. The specialist will work closely with local communities, government institutions, and international partners to implement strategies that align with UNESCO's conventions on cultural heritage protection.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specialist will be responsible for coordinating and developing technical actions for disaster risk management and emergency response related to cultural heritage. This includes providing technical assistance for the adaptation and development of methodologies and tools for disaster risk management, designing training content, and participating in technical consultations and field validations. The role also involves developing capacity-building activities, preparing technical documents, and ensuring the effective implementation of initiatives related to World Heritage Sites. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to the implementation of UNESCO's 1970 Convention against the illicit trafficking of cultural property, support the planning of technical meetings, and coordinate with various stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism and cultural heritage management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, Heritage Management, Humanities, or related fields. A Master's degree in the same areas is preferred. The position requires at least six years of experience in managing World Heritage Sites and four years in preparing reports or assessments on heritage properties. Experience within the United Nations system is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to synthesize information, and proficiency in project management.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, Heritage Management, or Humanities is required. A Master's degree in these areas is highly preferred, indicating advanced knowledge and expertise in cultural heritage management and related disciplines.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of professional experience in managing World Heritage Sites, with at least four years dedicated to preparing reports or assessments on cultural properties. Experience in similar roles within the United Nations system is also required, showcasing the ability to work in international and multicultural environments.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, with native or advanced proficiency required. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset, particularly in the context of international cooperation and communication.
