Job Overview:
The role involves supporting the translation, review, and technical editing of six specialized documents developed in Chile regarding public climate policy from a gender perspective. These documents analyze gender gaps and opportunities for integrating gender considerations into various sectors of Chile's climate policy. The volunteers will work collaboratively in pairs, with each person translating three documents and reviewing the other three. The translation process will be structured over approximately three weeks per document, involving translation, cross-review, peer feedback, and final adjustments. The volunteers will utilize AI tools and other validated translation assistance tools while ensuring adherence to UN Women’s standards for accuracy and institutional language.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Translate six technical documents from Spanish to English, ensuring accuracy and fidelity to the original content.
• Conduct a thorough review of the translations made by the partner, focusing on linguistic, technical, and conceptual accuracy.
• Engage in peer feedback sessions to resolve terminological and conceptual doubts, ensuring consistency across documents.
• Make final adjustments based on feedback received, preparing the documents for submission to UN Women.
• Utilize AI and other translation tools responsibly, ensuring compliance with UN policies on AI use and information protection.
• Ensure that the translations maintain clarity, coherence, and appropriateness for institutional publications, including attention to terminology related to gender, climate change, and sustainable development.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in both Spanish and English, with a strong command of technical language related to gender and climate change.
• Experience in translation, particularly in technical or institutional contexts.
• Familiarity with gender issues and climate policy is highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Educational Background:
A degree in translation, linguistics, environmental studies, gender studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in translation or experience in gender and climate change policy will be given priority.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in translation, particularly in technical fields. Experience working with international organizations or in gender and climate change contexts is advantageous. The role is suitable for individuals looking to gain experience in a UN environment and contribute to important gender equality initiatives.

Languages:
Mandatory: Proficiency in Spanish and English. Good to have: Knowledge of other languages relevant to the region or UN operations would be beneficial.
