Job Overview:
The UN HR Intern in Talent Development will be positioned within the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD) of the Office of Human Resources (OHR), under the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, allowing the intern to engage in various aspects of human resources management, particularly in talent development and organizational strategy. The intern will work closely with a Project Lead or a Human Resources Officer, gaining hands-on experience in administrative tasks, communication strategies, research, data analysis, and talent management initiatives. The role is structured to enhance the intern's understanding of HR practices within a global context, while also contributing to the UN's mission of promoting effective human resource strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that fall under several key areas: A. Administrative and Technical Skills - Assist in designing, updating, and maintaining internal records, databases, and SharePoint files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. - Utilize Office 365 apps, Power BI, and other software to prepare presentations, reports, and communications. B. Communications and Graphic Design - Aid in planning and disseminating communication products. - Contribute to outreach activities, including drafting materials for online engagement and maintaining web and social media content. - Design or edit visuals in accordance with UN branding guidelines. - Develop skills in software for creating visual products such as infographics and videos. C. Research and Data Analysis - Conduct research on HR policies and best practices, summarizing key findings. - Collect and analyze data for internal reports and budget submissions. - Create visual reports to support decision-making. D. Talent Management and Development - Assist in designing and implementing learning initiatives and training materials. - Support planning and coordination of briefings and community engagements. - Engage with talent communities to promote job opportunities and HR initiatives. - Implement UN strategies that enhance staff well-being and engagement. E. Other Opportunities - Collaborate with various teams within OHR to support HR initiatives and propose solutions to improve efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background in human resources, psychology, education, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required, a relevant field of study is essential. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program or have completed such programs. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel, is necessary. Familiarity with content authoring software, synchronous learning tools, learning platforms, data analytic tools, and media design software is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or be enrolled in a graduate program. Educational backgrounds in human resources, psychology, education, public administration, or related fields are preferred. The internship is open to students in their final year of study or those who have recently completed their degrees, ensuring that applicants have a solid academic foundation relevant to the internship's focus.

Experience:
While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. The internship is designed for individuals who are either completing their studies or have recently graduated, allowing them to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This internship is designed to be in-person and full-time, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week. The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months, with flexibility based on the successful candidate's needs. It is important to note that interns are not financially compensated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
