Job Overview:
The Young Professionals Program (YPP) at the World Bank Group is designed for exceptional professionals who are eager to contribute to global development challenges. As a Young Professional, you will engage in a structured two-year program that includes three rotations across different functions and institutions within the WBG. This program aims to develop future leaders in global development by providing them with hands-on experience, technical training, and opportunities to work on impactful projects. You will collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines, applying your expertise to address critical issues such as poverty alleviation and sustainable development. The role emphasizes leadership potential, technical skills, and a commitment to the WBG's mission, allowing you to make a significant impact on the lives of people around the world.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Young Professional, your responsibilities will include:
  • Structuring sustainable finance transactions and expanding the WBG’s sustainable finance offerings.
  • Translating climate priorities into operational and investment solutions across IBRD/IDA and IFC.
  • Advancing climate outcome measurement through technical pilots and coherent approaches to emissions.
  • Contributing to the integrated adaptation and resilience agenda by linking climate-risk intelligence with financial solutions.
  • Supporting innovative operations and transactions by identifying climate risks and opportunities.
  • Partnering with various teams to develop new financial products and tools.
  • Managing workstreams and contributing to cross-institutional assignments under the YPP rotation model.
  • Engaging in research and stakeholder engagement to support WBG-wide leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as finance, economics, sustainable finance, climate change, or public policy. Additionally, candidates should have 2-6 years of professional experience in sustainable or climate finance, investment finance, or related operational work. A strong grounding in sustainable finance instruments and transaction structures is essential, along with demonstrated experience in supporting sustainable finance transactions. Candidates should also exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to international development and the WBG’s mission.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master’s degree in finance, economics, business, sustainable finance, climate change, environmental science, public policy, data science, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sustainable finance and climate-related challenges.

Experience:
Candidates should have 2-6 years of relevant professional experience in areas such as sustainable finance, investment finance, or transaction structuring. Experience with financial institutions, development finance institutions, or advisory roles is advantageous. The role demands a strong analytical background and the ability to navigate complex financial and operational environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage, as it enhances communication and collaboration in a diverse international setting.
